El set de cuerdas Diskant (treble) gamba Pirastro 253020 está hecho con tripa de oveja como en la antigüedad.
These strings are made of sheep gut, which have been mentioned in the history of stringed instruments since early times. Fundamentally, even today, it is still possible to use gut strings for the lower strings of this instrument. However, the stiffness and thickness of the monofilament gut string can be a considerable handicap when playing the lower notes. The metal wound strings used today did not begin to be developed until the middle of the 17th century, in the time of Stradivarius. To offer these high quality authentic gut strings, Pirastro has recreated these developments and incorporated them into their gamba string program.
For pieces from practice we recommend the silver-wound gut string with polished surface, as they remain quiet even when the fingers change position on the fingerboard. This type of string has only been possible since the 20th century.
