- D´Addario Helicore Orchestral double bass strings have a stranded steel core. They produce a warm tonal quality, and have excellent bow response. The core design makes the strings very easy to play. The damping is optimized for bow playing, but they also work well for pizzicato, a technique where a very warm sound and a lower sustain are sought after.
